Post by: padre on Jul 16, 2014 Water builds up and is heated and superheated in a series of narrow openings through the rock. the pressure builds until steam in deeper in the tubes and boiling water lower down cause an eruptive outward motion. The eruptions last for various time periods and are usually not very regular.
