Title: The nursing staff of an oncology unit cautions visitors to be free of infections
Post by: nurse2mrow on Sep 16, 2014
The nursing staff of an oncology unit cautions visitors to be free of infections prior to visiting patients. The rationale for this precaution is because chemotherapy and decreased bone marrow production can cause:
1.   hemorrhage.
2.   neutropenia.
3.   edema.
4.   hypovolemia.

This is for my medical nursing class

Neutropenia occurs when the total number of neutrophils is abnormally low, putting the patient at increased risk for infection.
