  forward-looking reasons are
 
  a. a whole class of theories that identify ethical reasons for action apart from
  weighing the consequences of a choice.
  b. about likely consequences that would result from a choice
  c. about constraints or principles that apply prior to making the choice,
  independent from assessing the consequences of that choice
  d. the view that people ought to do whatever is in their self-interests.
