Title: Re: Exercise 6 Post by: Caseymac69 on Mar 17, 2012 Question 15. Describe how the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work together to regulate the heart rate.
An increase in in Sympathic stimulation increases the rate and forcefullness of contraction ( fight or Flight) and a decrease in sympathetic stimulation decreases heart rate and contraction. The cardiovascular system center in the Medulla Oblongata reacts or responds to increase in pressure( signaled by Barorecptors) by increasing the parasympathetic stimulation and decreasing sympathetic stimulation. The result is a decrease in Heart rate and force of contraction. Hope this help Title: Re: Exercise 6 Post by: segoodn on May 13, 2012 Thanks for this!!
