 Hemoglobin Determination
1. Is the male with polycythemia (sample 4) deficient in hemoglobin? Why? ___No because it was above the normal range. _____________________________ ______

Hemoglobin levels decrease in patients with anemia, hyperthyroidism, cirrhosis of the liver, renal disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and severe hemorrhage.

A normal hematocrit value is ~45%.
