A counterculture has values, interests, beliefs, and lifestyles that conflict with those of the larger culture; one example is punkers. Values are shared ideas about desirable goals or standards. Norms are behaviors; they are shaped by values and the means for achieving goals. It argues that the grammar, structure, and categories embodied in each language affect how its speakers see reality.
