Log of base 2 (2x+4) - log of base 2 (x-1)= 3

Done:

The two logs both have the same base, so you can apply the log rules:

\(\log _2\left(2x+4\right)-\log _2(x-1)=3\)

\(\log _2\left(\frac{2x+4}{x-1}\right)=3\)

\(\frac{2x+4}{x-1}=2^3\)

\(2x+4=8\left(x-1\right)\)

\(2x+4=8x-8\)

\(12=6x\)

\(2=x\)
