I'm assuming you're finding the derivative with respect to a. I'll use x to replace a, just for convenience. The derivative should be:

\(-\frac{4x}{\left(x^2+1\right)^2\sqrt{1-\frac{\left(x^2-1\right)^2}{\left(x^2+1\right)^2}}}\)
