Title: Tar Colour - Can the colour change by adding chemicals?
Post by: prashantakerkar on May 15, 2019

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tar

Can the tar dark brown or black change by adding chemicals to have Red, Green, Blue, Yellow etc colours?

If yes, How?

What will be the chemical reactions for the same if possible?

If no, Why?

Thanks & Regards,

Tar's characteristic dark color cannot be altered chemically. Mixing in a coloring agent with a solvent could dilute the tar, potentially changing its color, but the colorant to tar ratio would have to be substantial!

Not sure of the exact reaction, but to dissolve tar you'd need kerosene as the solvent
