Title: Spermatogenesis is the process of male gamete (sperm) production in animals.
Post by: CANZ247 on Jun 20, 2019
Oogenesis is the process of female gamete (ovum or egg) production in animals. Spermatogenesis is the process of male gamete (sperm) production in animals.

Provide two major differences between the processes of oogenesis and spermatogenesis.

Provide one similarity between the processes of oogenesis and spermatogenesis.

Provide two major differences between the processes of oogenesis  and spermatogenesis

spermatogenesis

1. it is a continuous process and completed in approximately 74 days.
2.  it is production process of sperms from male germ cells and spermatogonia in males.

oogenesis

1. it is a discontinuous process and completed in a few days to years.
2. it is the production of eggs from female germ cells oogonia in females.

Provide one similarity between the processes of oogenesis and spermatogenesis

1) Both occur in the germ cells in the gonads.

2) Both produce haploid reproductive units , the gametes, for sexual reproduction.

3) Both consist of 3 phases ; multiplication, growth and maturation.

4) Both involve changes in nucleus as cytoplasm of the gamete mother cells.
