Is it possible to design a dual transmission mode automobile ?

I.e. Manual & Automated mode.

If Yes, How?
If No, Why?

Thanks.

There are two Gearboxes one for Automatic, other for Manual.

Similar to selecting Petrol (Gasoline) or CNG fuel type using push buttons, there are two push buttons namely Automatic and Manual.

Clicking on Automatic push button will activate the Automatic Gearbox system and Lock the Manual Gearbox system.

Clicking on Manual push button will activate the Manual Gearbox system and Lock the Automatic Gearbox system.

Is it feasible to implement a Dual transmission mode automobile?

If No, What are the technical challenges for the same?

The automobile engine has to be modified to occupy both the transmission systems (Auto + Manual) inputs ?

Transmission is a gearbox; engine produces torque and transmission further transmits this torque to the wheels. In other words, the transmission accepts power in the form of torque that is then delivered into each drive wheel according to the press of the gas pedal.

Engine and transmission do two completely different things; therefore, the engine does not need to be modified at all, only the transmission components change.
