Trials in an experiment with a polygraph include 96 results that include 24 cases of wrong results and 72 cases of correct results. Use a 0.01 significance level to test the claim that such polygraph results are correct less than 80% of the time. Use the P-value method. Use the normal distribution as an approximation of the binomial distribution.

H0(null): p=0.80

H1(alternative): p<0.80

Phat=72/96=0.75

Z=(0.75-0.80)/sqrt(0.8*(1-0.8)/96)=-1.22

p-value=P(Z<-1.22)= 0.111232437448 using excel function =NORMSDIST(-1.22)

https://www.medcalc.org/manual/normsdist_function.php

From this 0.111 < 0.80, so when p < 0.80, reject the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis.
