When the derivative function crosses the x axis, so when x = 0, that's when you have a local maximum in the actual function. When the graph passes the x-axis going upwards, that's a local minimum. The opposite it true when the graph passes the x-axis going downwards; that happens twice here at 2 and 6.

x = 2 and 6 is the local maximum,
x = 4 is the local minimum
