As per the Statistical records, USA with 4 Gold, Hungary and United Kingdom with 3 Gold medals tied are the top three countries.

What are the different reasons for their success as we know football is a team game?

Thanks & Regards,

USA sucks at football, but they do win a lot of medals at other games. Here are some reasons for their success:

  • The USA has a very diverse population with individuals who are well suited for a large variety of sports from swimming to sprinting to boxing.
  • The USA enjoys a stable and relatively inexpensive, yet extremely high quality food supply which is crucial throughout an athlete's life.
  • The USA's college athletic programs are good training grounds for many athletes.
  • Unlike in decades past, US Olympic athletes can make good money both while competing and after retiring so it's very attractive in that sense.

Not sure about Britain

Britain has a lot of club teams, so soccer is played all year round.
