Examining the role of hypoxia in modulating epithelial cell and immune cell responses has been an area of active investigation in the design of new therapeutics for treating IBD (10). Therefore, as inflammation continues over a period of days a patient develops hypoxia and may smother unless supplemental oxygen is furnished by means of a ventilator or O2 chamber. Due to hypoxia, would body trigger inflammation in order to increase blood flow into this region and increase oxygen level? would it be the main purpose of inflammation?

Discharged phlegm, called sputum, can contain pus, composed of white blood cells, cellular debris, dead tissue, serous fluid, and viscous liquid (mucus). But the two words aren't interchangeable. It consists of a buildup of dead, white blood cells that form when the body's immune system responds to the infection. If an infection occurs within the bloodstream, called septicemia, this is life-threatening, because the bacteria and their toxins can be carried through the bloodstream to your entire body. |
