NASA's basic requirements are a bachelor's degree in engineering, biological science, physical science, computer science or mathematics, followed by three years of professional experience (or 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft). Candidates also must pass NASA's astronaut physical examination. However, there are many other skills that can be an asset to selection, such as scuba diving, wilderness experience, leadership experience and facility with other languages (especially Russian, which all astronauts are required to learn today.)

What about the physical examination? Is it more difficult than police academy physical test, or they are on the same level?

I think to become an astronaut, they're looking for the best of the best. It's not as simple as @duddy puts it in his post. Since astronauts are called upon to perform a variety of scientific and technical work, astronauts need to be highly skilled and educated, know how to speak other languages, have certifications and experience in a science-related field (engineering, medicine, etc.). To put it in perspective, in Canada alone, only 14 Canadians have been selected to become astronauts since 1983 (38 years).

Qualities and skills they're looking for:

➡️ Judgment
➡️ Integrity
➡️ Reasoning
➡️ Teamwork
➡️ Ability to synthesize and communicate using plain language
➡️ Public speaking
➡️ Motivation
➡️ Resourcefulness

Good luck!

NASA is the largest and the most famous space agency, but it's not the only. I suppose those who dream about becoming astronauts should pay their attention to other agencies. What about finding a not so well-known rocket company (https://www.skyrora.com/) and try to start a career there?
These startups don't have such strict requirements, they search for creative minds who are ready to work and develop the space industry every day.
