Title: Use the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to perform the following calculations.
Post by: Annonn on Mar 21, 2022
Use the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to perform the following calculations.
The Ka of acetic acid is:  1.8 × 10–5. FW for sodium acetate, trihydrate (NaC2H3O2•3H2O) is 136.08 g/mol.

• Buffer A: Calculate the mass of solid sodium acetate required to mix with 50.0 mL of
0.1 M acetic acid to prepare a pH 4 buffer.

• Buffer B: Calculate the mass of solid sodium acetate required to mix with 50.0 mL of
1.0 M acetic acid to prepare a pH 4 buffer.

So, I tried replicating it for Buffer B, since there is 1.0 M of acetic acid, and all the numbers are the same, wouldn't the answer be 3.321 g?
I noticed Buffer B's answer is similar to Buffer A's answer, but with the decimal moving to the right, once.

I've modified it

Thank you, that's what I got except I added an extra sig fig :)

Considering significant figures, it should only be 2 sf, thus 3.2 will suffice.
