Title: Recombinant and non-recombinant phenotypes
Post by: Annonn on Nov 12, 2022
In C. elegans, lon-2 and unc-2 are recessive mutations that are 8 map units apart on the X chromosome. An hermaphrodite (XX) who is Lon and Unc is mated to a wild-type male (XO).  An F1 hermaphrodite is mated to a wild-type male.

A) What are the expected percentages of the different recombinant phenotypes among the male

4% will be Lon nonUnc and 8% will be nonLon Unc

4% will be Lon nonUnc and 4% will be nonLon Unc

8% will be Lon nonUnc and 8% will be nonLon Unc

46% be Lon nonUnc and 46% will be nonLon Unc

B) What are the expected percentages of the different non-recombinant phenotypes among the male progeny?

92% will be Lon Unc, and 92% will be nonLon nonUnc

46% will be Lon Unc, and 46% will be nonLon nonUnc

8% will be Lon Unc, and 8% will be nonLon nonUnc

4% will be Lon Unc, and 4% will be nonLon nonUnc
