How did James I and his son Charles I view the authority of kings?
A)   Kings ruled by the grace of God and did not need Parliament to govern.
B)   Kings had secular authority, but religious authority belonged to the pope.
C)   Parliament had the inalienable right to elect and depose kings.
D)   King were only fit to govern if they had popular support.
E)   Kings could only tax and make laws with Parliament’s approval.
