Title: Topological Equivalence Biology Post by: ducky831 on Mar 11, 2011 What does the Theory of Topological Equivalence tell us about the evolution of complex cells and how does it tell us about the generation of those membranes/organelles in living cells? Provide an example of how these membranes are linked functionally.
Title: Re: Topological Equivalence Biology Post by: bio_man on Mar 11, 2011 Whoa, never even heard of that term before :thi: Don't want to seem clueless here, but is that for development biology?
Title: Re: Topological Equivalence Biology Post by: bio_man on Mar 11, 2011 By the way, here's a link (http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:WJDDQJIPayMJ:www.dpi.inpe.br/teses/miro/chapter5.pdf+%22Topological+Equivalence%22&hl=en&gl=ca&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjJZFEFXS2K8f_l0NwjXwVaReW7iw45KuVyN1na2p4GX1AR-8kQRCaBWMZNQHGM7kEheLc5fMKzBxbdygEUD7KufF21C3O5e4_IYS9Dwf3FZsBcS5Z2eYOnOO5Kprkf1-LxIShb&sig=AHIEtbQhINU8TvucpFnyL6mjw5k38HtssQ&pli=1) you could probably use.
Title: Re: Topological Equivalence Biology Post by: ducky831 on Mar 12, 2011 It sorta help, but not really much. Basically the prof. talked about why there's smooth ER/ rough ER and why the nucleus is doubled membrane, which he reference to the theory. I think.... I missed class that day, and one of my classmate gave me details about it, but she's still trying to grasp the idea herself. So I'm pretty lost, at least until Monday where I can ask the prof. for some details.

Title: Re: Topological Equivalence Biology Post by: ducky831 on Mar 12, 2011 Hey Bio_man, I found the answer to my question. In case you are wondering about it too, here is the link, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK28395/ (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK28395/) It is in the 2nd section, it was quite an interesting read. ;D
