Title: Exercise 18B Neurophysiology of Nerve Impulses: Computer Simulation Post by: akg62 on Apr 7, 2011 does anyone have any answers on this topic for the Review Sheet? (just fyi) question 1. Why don't the terms depolarization and action potential mean the same thing? There are a total of 16 questions.
Title: Re: Exercise 18B Neurophysiology of Nerve Impulses: Computer Simulation Post by: bio_man on Apr 7, 2011 Depolarization (reduction of the negative membrane potential) may only be a short-lived event if the change in the membrane is sub-threshold. When an action potential occurs, there is a large reversal of the membrane polarity that occurs when the membrane depolarizes to threshold.
