Post by: duddy on Jul 1, 2012 Calcium ions are constantly transported out of the sarcoplasm and into the sarcoplasmic reticulum to be released when electrical changes occur in the membranes of the T tubules. The duration of the contraction depends upon the duration of the electrical events.
