Hard to say without knowing Tyler's age. If he's a newborn then that's about right. If he's a toddler or older, he has a hemoglobinapathy, which polycythemia is. Polycythemia means Tyler is making too many of all the red and white blood cells and platelets. Reticulocytes are where his red cells are underdeveloped. They are red cells with a nucleus. When red cells are mature, they have no nucleus. They are made in the bone marrow and mature there. Without knowing his age, I can't tell you what it should be. Normally it's zero. Babys may have a few when born and the red count is supposed to be high which explains his high hematocrit. Like I said, if he's not a newborn, then a crit that high is consistent with polycythemia. Polycythemia is a benign disease and the treatment is to simply remove some of his blood. He will have to go to the hospital and they will remove a pint of his blood, just like a blood donation. He will have to do this periodically for the rest of his life. Takes about 30 minutes to an hour. No big.
