Let me know otherwise. Title: Re: How does calcium-calmodulin play a role in physiology ? Post by: katiexo94 on May 8, 2015 Duddy, thank you but unfortunately this does not help.
Title: Re: How does calcium-calmodulin play a role in physiology ? Post by: duddy on May 8, 2015 Apologies for the previous post. I went to bed last night, so I couldn't respond right away. Calmodulin (CaM) is a calcium-binding messenger protein expressed in all eukaryotic cells. CaM transduces calcium signals by binding calcium ions and thus modifying/enabling it’s interactions with various target proteins. CaM along with calcium mediates many crucial processes such as inflammation, muscle contraction, memory, and immune response. Calcium is needed as a second messenger; calcium bound to proteins such as Calmodulin combine to act as messengers in our cells.
