What is Augmented Reality (AR)?  It is predicted that AR systems will soon be available and that will provide “wired” officers with new capabilities.  List and describe three of those new capabilities.  What are your thoughts on the potential benefits and drawbacks to each new technology?

Real-time intelligence about crime and criminals in the surrounding area.  Facial, voiceprint, and other biometric recognition data of known criminals, allowing for instantaneous identification. Automated scans for chemical, biological, and explosive threats in the immediate area. Real-time language translation to assist interaction with non-English-speaking people.
Three-dimensional maps complete with building floor plans, sewer system schematics, and possible access and escape routes. Advanced optics, including digital zoom and audio amplifi-
cation for seeing and hearing at a distance. Identification friend-or-foe technology to allow immediate recognition of “good guys”. Coordinated deployment of robots and unmanned aerial
vehicles, including the ability to “see” and “hear” what the robots or UAVs encounter.
