1. A—LH (luteinizing hormone) is required for gamete production.

2. A—CG (chorionic gonadotropin) is required to maintain the corpus luteum until the placenta has matured sufficiently to take over its function.

3. A—Estrogen is required to prepare the uterine wall to support the embryo.

4. B—Prolactin, while it is required for mammary gland growth and milk production, is not required for successful pregnancy and birth.
