Title: could anyone help, tomorrow i have ap chemistry test and i don't know how to solve this question? Post by: tole034 on Aug 21, 2012 A 500 mL sample of a 0.350 M solution is left open on a lab counter for twl weeks, after which the concentration of the solution is 0.955 M. What is the new volume of the solution?
.183 L is the correct answer plz help Title: could anyone help, tomorrow i have ap chemistry test and i don't know how to solve this question? Post by: FISH0818 on Aug 21, 2012 Here is one way to do it:
First, find the moles present in the original solution: 0.500L x 0.350mole/L = 0.175 mole Now we will find the new volume for the solution that makes is so it is now 0.955M We will let X = the volume of the evaporated solution: 0.175 mole/X liters = 0.955mole/L 0.175mole = X liters x 0.955mole/L 0.175 mole/0.955mole/L = X Liters 0.183 = X liters Title: could anyone help, tomorrow i have ap chemistry test and i don't know how to solve this question? Post by: oblivionks on Aug 21, 2012 0.500Lx (0.350 mol/1L) = 0.175mol We cancel out L and left with moles.
We take moles and molarity to find liters 0.175mol x(1L/o.955mol) =0.183L We cancel out moles to find liters. If i am not wrong .183L is correct |
