A 24-month-old fell into a coffee table and has a laceration under his chin. He is crying frantically and struggles to move away when you try to look at his injury. A good way to initially attempt to gain his cooperation would be to:
A) ask the mother to hold his arms and head still to keep him from moving.
B) see if he has a favorite toy or stuffed animal that will help comfort him.
C) tell him he won't have to get stitches if he'll just let you look at his cut.
D) tell him that if he doesn't stop crying his mommy will have to leave the room.
