Title: Which response includes all of the following molecules that contain polar covalent bonds, and no others?
Post by: lexes55 on Sep 19, 2012
NO2, PCl3, N2, H2O, P4, NH3

a.NO2, P4, and NH3
b.PCl3, N2, and H2O
c.H2O and NH3
d.NO2, PCl3, and H2O
e.NO2, PCl3, H2O, and NH3

I forgot how to tell if a bond is polar or non polar. Does it have something to do with the uneven sharing of electrons? Thanks

A bond is polar if there is uneven sharing of electrons
so one atom can have a stronger "pull" on the electrons
so that would make it slightly more negative than the other
atom
