Alkene=propene , solvent=methanol..Why is the solvent needed for bromination of the alkene . Thanks :)

Propene and bromine are not miscible.  In order to react, they must be able to diffuse together in the same phase.  A solven therefore places them in the same phase and allows them to diffuse together.
