Why are there so many people with type O, A and B and so few with Ab pos or neg blood types? Are we somehow different? What is it about us that makes our blood different? Maybe we're what's left of our earlier ancestors...lol.

AB is not really different from A, B, O. A, B. and O represent alleles for that particular gene. AB simply means you received one copy of each allele.
As to why some are more common, there is no way to state for certain. In all likelihood it is a historical accident of when certain mutations occurred in certain populations. Different ethnic/racial groups differ in the proportions of different alleles. What is common in one group may be uncommon in another. |
