The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) is responsible for the “fight or flight” response in the body. When activated, it prepares the body for action by increasing heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration. The effects of the SNS can last longer than those of the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) because the SNS releases norepinephrine and epinephrine into the bloodstream, which can have long-lasting effects on the body. Chronic activation of the SNS can lead to chronic stress and damage to blood vessels and arteries.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
