Title: Identification of tiny insect
Post by: Cicero101 on Jul 19, 2016
So I've encountered some kind of bugs or mites.
I have bought ground beef from the butcher for my cat and froze it to preserve.
Now when I thaw it out and put it on a plate I enounter tiny bugs, about 0.2-0.5 mm in length, looking like slender mites or ticks
Their colour varies between light brown and light red.
I've only encountered them in that meat but they appear in numbers (saw 6-7 once crawling on the small plate)

I wasn't able to find information on those particular bugs anywhere on the Internet.

The main reason I ask is: are they harmful for my cat? can you identify them?
Sorry for the low resolution of the photo but this close and using that magnification my camera wouldn't give me better results.

I'm terribly sorry for that stupid way of asking it but I am absolutely lost how to phrase it so I tried to use words that are at least not wrong if not helpful

greetings,
Cicero

Nearly all mites are vectors for diseases. I would be very cautious having these crawl around your pet.
