Title: Can an entire phylogenetic tree be made from DNA or protein sequence data, or does it require data beyondthat?

Thanks for the answer...it's from a single organism I believe.  It's supposed to be a comparison of multiple organisms, right?

The question, as specified, is vague.

Please clarify what you mean by a "phylogenetic tree being made".   Do you mean reconstructing the location in the tree of the organism?   Or the ability to recreate the ancestors of the organism?

And by "from DNA or protein sequence data" ... do you mean the sequence data of a single organism, or assuming that we have sequence data from all organisms (and can thus do comparisons)?
