You wake up in the morning, have breakfast. After breakfast, chances are blood sugar levels go up. You need a way to balance this, so your body produces insulin, so to convert that excess sugar in glycogen.

If you see a bear, chances are your flight-or-fight response gets activated, leading you to produce adrenaline.

c. provide an explanation as to why hormone R rises so sharply and quickly (1mark)

Adrenaline quickly raises your heart-rate. The bear must have caused to person to become scared.

I think you misunderstood the question. The graph shows that he MISSED breakfast and Hormone P was released because he skipped it. Now, I don't know the answer to this question so I can't answer it, but hopefully someone else can with the proper answer.

Actually, I think the answer to question 1 is Glucagon. Glucagon raises blood glucose levels by converting glycogen to glucose.

If insulin levels are high, mitochondrial activity will be high, since an increase in insulin means more glucose is in the cell. The more glucose, the more energy production.
