A 40 tonne jumbo jet accelerates down the runway at 5 m/s2
. What must be the thrust on
each of its four engines? What is the horizontal force that a 700 N pilot exerts on his seat?

can someone help me to solve this? :laughing: :laughing: :D

F=m*a
where;f=force,m=mass and a=acceleration
m=40 tonne x (1000 kg)/(1 tonne)
m=40,000 kg
F=40,000 kg*5  m/s^2
F=200,000 kg  m/s^2 =200,000 N=200 kN the thrust on
each of its four engines

Fs= force of the seat on the pilot
Fg= gravitational force

∑FNet = Fs+Fg
Since FG is downward acceleration, therefore,
∑FNet = Fs+Fg
Fs=200,000 N+700 N
Fs=200,700 N

All the best.
Cheers :D
