what factors contribute to more widespread effects the sympathetic division has compared to parasympathetic?

They both will affect most organs of the body,  but the sympathtic division seems more widespread because of the paravertebral ganglia.  In reality, the vagus nerve does the corresponding work because it carries the parasympathetic inervation for most of the thoracic and abdominal organs.
