On the anniversary of that event, the Amish refused to have any memorial ceremony to commemorate this tragic occasion. Why do you think this was their decision?

If they had held memorial services for the slain children, their community would have been invaded by every news agency in the Western world, including foreign correspondents, all the major networks, the press, and other mass media. This would have been in direct conflict with their desire to maintain an independent lifestyle that is not compromised, corrupted, or influenced by the modern world.
