Post by: 1nd1andud3 on Oct 29, 2012
Write and balance equations for the following reactions.

a.) Iron metal and chlorine gas react to form solid iron (III) chloride.

b.) Solid aluminum carbonate decomposes to form solid aluminum oxide and carbon dioxide gas.

c.) Solid magnesium reacts with aqueous silver nitrate to form solid  silver and aqueous magnesium nitrate.

And can you guys please explain to me how you wrote the equations for each word problem. I have no idea how to translate it lol

a) 2 Fe + 3 Cl2 ------> 2 FeCl3

b) Al2(CO3)3 -------> Al2O3 + 3 CO2

c) Mg + 2 AgNO3 ------> Mg(NO3)2 + 2 Ag
