Title: What makes rabbits different than rodents?
Post by: kdog on Dec 7, 2016
I know rabbits are not rodents (i.e. mice, rats), but what makes them different? In other words, why are they classified differently?

Rabbits are not rodents. They are small mammals in the family Leporidae and the order Lagomorpha.

Rodents are from the order Rodentia, which is the largest group of mammals.

Rabbits share some similarities with rodents, but they have many differences. Rabbits were originally classified as rodents, but this changed in the 20th century.
