And how it helps more with germination than other liquids when the seed is is soaked in it

The seed coat is hard and protects the seed from many elements that would damage it. Water is needed to soften it so that the radicle can emerge. Which other liquids? They may be toxic or not conducive to dissolving the seed coat.
