1-butanol ( n-butanol or  butyl alcohol) means a four carbon linear hydrocarbon structure with molecular formula of (C4H10O) has a hydroxy group at position 1.

butanol    +   propanoic acid    ->   butyl propanoate (ester)  +   water.
C4H9OH(aq) + C2H5CO2H(aq)  ->  C2H5CO2C4H9(aq)  +  H2O(l)
