If the initial allele frequencies are p = 0.75 and q = 0.25 and the a allele is a lethal recessive, what will be the frequency of the a allele in the future? Use the following equation: qn = q0/(1 + nq0), where qn = the new gene frequency, q0 = the initial gene frequency, and n = the number of generations.
Round your answer to four decimal places.

What will be the frequency of the a allele after 1 generation?

What will be the frequency of the a allele after 5 generations?

What will be the frequency of the a allele after 10 generations?

What will be the frequency of the a allele after 25 generations?

What will be the frequency of the a allele after 100 generations?

What will be the frequency of the a allele after 1000 generations?

Hi Ih23

p = 0.75 and q =0.25

qn=q01+nq0

where qn = the new gene frequency, q0 = the initial gene frequency, and n = the number of generations

A)

If n = 1, then qn=q01+nq0

Substituting the given values in the above equation

q01 = 0.25, nq0 = 1X0.25 = 0.25

qn = 0.25 + 0.25 = 0.50. Hence, the allele frequency after 1 generation is 0.50.

B)

q01 = 0.25, nq0 = 5X0.25 = 1.25

qn = 0.25 + 1.25 = 1.50. Hence, the allele frequencu after 5 generations is 1.50

C)

q01 = 0.25, nq0 = 10X0.25 = 2.5

qn = 0.25 + 2.5 = 2.75. Hence, the allele frequency after 10 generations is 2.75.

D)

q01 = 0.25, nq0 = 25X0.25 = 6.25

qn = 0.25 + 6.25 = 6.50. Hence, the allele frequency after 25 generations is 6.50

E)

q01 = 0.25, nq0 = 100X0.25 = 25

qn = 0.25 + 25 = 25.25. Hence, the allele frequency after 100 generations is 25.25

F)

q01 = 0.25, nq0 = 1000X0.25 = 250

qn = 0.25 + 250 = 250.25. Hence, the allele frequency after 1000 generations is 250.25
