What do the terms par (face) value, coupon, and maturity date mean for bonds?

face value is what is the value of the bond when you buy it. coupon rate is how much interest you earn on that bond over a period of time. selling price depends on the yield to maturity of the bond.

Par is the original price of the bond, coupon is the interest rate, maturity date is the date the bond will be turned back into cash
