tropical regions of Africa, Madagascar,Central and South America because large leaves have more surface area and the moisture in the plant would evaporate quickly in the hot desert sun. You would expect to find needly plants or plants with large waxy appendages for holding and keeping water in.

the plant with the largest leaves is  raffia palm (Raphia farinifera) and it grows in western, central and southern Africa
