Title: Questions about human anatomy and physiology!
Post by: xsageybabyx on May 7, 2017
I'm doing all the practice tests I can to prepare for my final exam. Any input is extremely appreciated!!

1. At synapses:
a. The presynaptic axon is binding to NE
b. Postsynaptic neuron may depolarize
c. ACh is released into the synaptic cleft
d. B & C
e. All of the above

2. Postsynaptic dendrites:
a. Lead to action potentials if depolarized above threshold
b. Have voltage-gated ion channels that are binding to ACh
c. Transmit graded potentials more quickly in white matter
d. B & C
e. All of the above

3. EPSP:
a. Always involves neurotransmitter crossing synaptic cleft
b. Always leads to action potential in postsynaptic neuron
c. Never causes hyperpolarization of postsynaptic dendrite
d. A & C
e. None of the above

4. CNS:
a. Generally detects external stimuli with exteroreceptores
b. Has gray matter in cerebrum myelinated by schwann cells
c. Is cushioned by a layer of CSF found in subarachnoid space
d. B & C
e. All of the above

5. Exteroreceptors:
a. Include the nociceptors that can detect painful stimuli
b. Have one receptor detecting many nonspecific stimuli
c. Include meissner's corpuscles that are unencapsulated
d. A & B
e. None of the above

The exteroreceptors are distributed in the superficial tissues such as the epidermis and dermis, and are responsible for sensing external stimulations.

The central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS) comprise the entirety of the body's nervous system, which regulates and maintains its most basic functions.

The CNS is the main control center of the body—it takes in sensory information, organizes and synthesizes this input, then provides instructions for motor output to the rest of the body.

The CNS is made up of the brain and spinal cord.

The brain is the main data center of the body, consisting of the cerebrum (which regulates higher-level functioning such as thought) and the cerebellum (which maintains coordination).

The brain stem includes the midbrain, pons, and medulla, and controls lower-level functioning such as respiration and digestion.

The spinal cord connects the brain and the body's main receptors, and serves as a conduit for sensory input and motor output.
