Title: Why can't faraday cages block earths magnetic field?
Post by: smkt025 on Mar 1, 2013
'Faraday cages cannot block static and slowly varying magnetic fields, such as Earth's magnetic field (a compass will still work inside).' Can you explain why this occurs?

Because a Faraday cage blocks electromagnetic waves. That is waves that oscillate.Geo-magnetic waves don't oscillate(at least not at a frequency high enough to matter since their blocking depends on induction.
