In spring and fall, each hemisphere is bewteen the summer and winter extremes.  Thus the "vernal equinox" and the "autumnal equinox".

Between the winter and summer solstices your angular orientation changes about 45 degrees, twice the angular declination.  Some things out of view in the winter will appear in the summer, and vice versa.
