The nucleus of Elodea is usually found somewhere in the perimeter of each cell. This is the case because the main part of the cell contains the central vacuole which pushes all the cytoplasm and organelles out toward the cell wall. The nucleus might be hard to see as it is small, often mostly transparent, there are loads of chloroplasts getting in the way,and in a healthy cell there is cytoplasmic streaming (all the cytoplasm is in motion).
