Post by: irina on Apr 4, 2013 My reasoning is this: xylem sap is a solution of water and dissolved minerals but only water is pulled through stomata by transpirational pull, so technically xylem sap is not pulled through stomata, only a component of it is. In other words, water has already been removed from the xylem sap by the time it leaves through the stomata.
